الموضوع: فيروس الـ N1H1 (المعروف سابقاً بأنفلونزا الخنازير)

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،،

حرصاً منا على سلامتكم وكجزء من متابعتنا للتطورات الخاصة بأنفلونزا الخنازير، نود إبلاغكم بآخر التطورات الخاصة بهذا الموضوع ونود البدء بإسم الفيروس المسبب للمرض إذ تم تغييره من Swine Flu إلى H1N1.

ارتفع عدد المصابين بفيروس الـ N1H1 عالمياً ليصل إلى 1490 إصابة فيما بلغ عدد الوفيات إلى 30 حالة، وفقا لإحدث الأرقام الصادرة عن منظمة الصحة العالمية. هـذا وقد بلغ عدد الإصابات المؤكدة في الولايات المتحدة نحو 403 إصابة موزعة في 30 ولاية أمريكية، وبلغ عدد الإصابات المؤكدة بالفيروس 85 إصابة في كندا. ولكن على الرغم من ارتفاع عدد المصابين بفيروس الـ N1H1 عالمياً، يبدو أن المسئولين الأمريكيين اقل تخوفاً من آثار هذا الفيروس. وفي هذا الإطار، ذكرت وزيرة الأمن الداخلي الاميركية Secretary of Homeland Security Department جانيت نابوليتانو إن حدة هذا المرض والمعاناة الناجمة عن ذلك "... ليست أقوى من المعاناة الناجمة عن الأنفلونزا الموسمية العادية،" وأضافت قائلة إن "... الأنفلونزا الموسمية العادية تؤدي إلى إصابة مئات الألوف من الأمريكيين الذين تضطر إصابتهم بها إلى نقلهم للعلاج في المستشفيات، إضافـة إلى وفاة نحو 35 ألف سنويا."

وفي إطار متصل، أعلنت السلطات المكسيكية إن حدة المرض قد بلغت ذروتها حالياً، وجراء هذا التفاؤل الحذر قامت السلطات المحلية في العاصمة مكسيكو سيتي بفتح المطاعم والمتاحف والمكتبات والكنائس أمام الناس.

بالإضافة إلى ذلك، فقد أعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية انه ليس هناك ما يستوجب رفع حالة الإنذار إلى مستوى أعلى من المستوى الحالي، وجاء ذلك في إشارة واضحة إلى التفاؤل الحذر تجاه المرض وتواصل الجهود للتوصل إلى لقاح ناجع لمعالجته في المستقبل القريب.

وبناءاً على ما تقدم، فأننا نهيب بطلبتنا الأعزاء إلى الاستمرار في توخي الحذر عند الاختلاط في الأماكن العامة مع التأكيد على عدم الانجرار نحو التخوف الزائد، مع تأكيدنا في نفس الوقت على عدم التأخر في الاتصال بنا إن كانت لديكم أي استفسارات أخرى.

Sub. H1N1 (Formerly known as Swine Flu)

Alsalam Alaykum,,

As part of our concern about your safety and in retrospect of following up with developments in regard to the H1N1, we wish to update you with the latest developments in this regard. We also wish to start with the name of the virus where it has been changed from “Swine Flu” into “H1N1”.

Number of those infected with H1N1 increased globally to reach 1490 whereas there were 30 death cases, according to the latest information released by the World Health Organization WHO. Number of those infected with the virus in the United States reached 403 and diagnosed in 30 U.S. states whereas number reached 85 in Canada. Although the number of infections is increasing, U.S. officials seem less worried from the effects of this virus. The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Department Janet Napolitano mentioned that effects and suffering resulted from this virus are “… not more than suffering from normal seasonal flu,” she also added “normal flu resulted in infection of hundreds of thousands of Americans who might have to end up in hospitals to receive medical treatment, not to mention annual deaths of around 35 thousand people as a result of ordinary flu infection”.

In addition, Mexican authorities announced that the virus infection level reached its peak. As a result, local authorities in Mexico City open restaurants, museums, libraries, and churches for people. Also, WHO declared that there is no reason to raise level of alert higher, which reflects careful optimism toward the virus.

As a result, we remind our students to be cautious when attending public and crowded places, and follow the hygiene instructions, i.e. washing hands frequently. There is, however, no need for panic. Please feel free to contact us should you have any queries or concerns.
