December 9, 2004

To all Omani Students,
Dear Students

As your holiday plans are on the way, we want to bring to your attention three main issues as follows:

1- DEPARTURE FOR THE HOLIDAYS:

This is the annual reminder for all students departing the U.S. for their December break to be sure to have all immigration documents in order before departure. It is advised to check with the International Office at your school prior to departing the U.S. to review your documents and status. Also, check the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement web site at: www.ice.gov  for more information on SEVIS rules and regulations.

2- FORWARDING OF SEMESTER GRADES:

As you already know, we request all students to forward the semester/quarter-completed grades to the Cultural Division as soon as they are available (NO later than January 15, 2005 please). The directive is that February 2005 allowance WILL NOT be paid to those who do not send their transcripts by mid January 2005.

3- MEDICAL INSURANCE:

We informed those of you who are still enrolled in the medical insurance plan with the Cultural Division through Harrington Benefit Services, that the insurance contract will be terminated by December 31, 2004. Accordingly, it is the student’s responsibility to make sure he is enrolled in his school medical insurance plan and have coverage starting January 1, 2005. Amended financial guarantees were sent to schools to this effect. Students are required to fill enrollment form with their school’s medical insurance provider.

If you did not take necessary steps to have medical insurance coverage starting January 1,2005, or do not know what to do in this regard, please contact your financial or academic advisor immediately. You can also contact me directly if you encounter unresolved issue with regard to the medical insurance.

Finally we would like to congratulate the fall 2004 term graduates and hope them best wishes in their future endeavors, and wish continuing students all the success in their finals.

Regards,

Dr. Talib Al-Salmi
